Outline Scope & Purpose of Role

The Surveyor is responsible for conducting precise measurements and assessments of windows and related structures in residential and commercial properties. This role ensures that all installations meet customer requirements and adhere to industry standards and regulations. This role will also oversee on-site activities to ensure projects are executed according to plan and specification.

Key Tasks

  • Site Surveys:
  • Conduct detailed site surveys to measure and assess the area where windows, doors, or related fittings will be installed.
  • Use specialised tools and techniques to take accurate measurements and note any potential installation challenges.
  • Customer Interaction:
  • Liaise with clients to understand their specific requirements and preferences.
  • Provide expert advice on window styles, materials, and installation options based on the survey findings.
  • Technical Assessment:
  • Identify structural issues, such as damp, rot, or subsidence, that may impact the installation process.
  • Assess and document any preparatory work needed to ensure a smooth installation process.
  • Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate survey reports, including measurements, site conditions, and recommended installation methods.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and submitted to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure all surveys and installations comply with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Stay updated with changes in regulations and standards affecting window installations.
  • Coordination:
  • Work closely with the installation team to ensure they are fully briefed on the survey findings and any specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure materials meet the specifications derived from the survey.
  • Project Management:
  • Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are executed according to plans and specifications.
  • Manage the schedule and timeline of the project, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure they remain within budget.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure all personnel on site adhere to safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Provide safety briefings and training to on-site personnel.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and quality work.
  • Communicate effectively with the project team and resolve any on-site issues.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in surveying or construction are advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience in surveying, especially within the window and door installation industry, is essential
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with surveying tools and techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and accurate documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues and develop solutions to address them before installation.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders and working in various weather conditions.
