Since October 2022, annual energy bills have increased to £2,500 for the average household in the UK. These growing prices alongside an ongoing energy crisis have now caused many homeowners to reflect on how they use energy and ways they can save money efficiently.
One way to help with rising energy bills is to improve your home’s insulation. Fitting in more roof, floor and wall insulation will effectively reduce your energy bills and keep your home a warm and comfortable space. The benefits insulation brings are also achieved with secondary glazing, which can reduce heat loss through the window by up to 65%.
Granada Celebrates a 40% Increase in Secondary Glazing Sales
With more homes eager to reduce their energy consumption, we have seen our secondary glazing sales increase by 40% over the last 12 months to help homes cut energy costs. As part of this, we are happy to announce that we are on track for our best year ever and will be creating 17 more job opportunities at Granada to keep up with demand!
Secondary glazing is often fitted with a 150mm-200mm cavity from the primary window which creates an insulating layer of air that retains heat and stops it from being lost through your windows. With the right glass (such as low-E), secondary glazing can significantly reduce heat loss and insulate your cold, drafty home.
At Granada, our team is dedicated to achieving an exceptional growth target of £15m by March 2026. This ambitious goal would result in doubling our turnover within just four years, contributing to the growth of manufacturing in Yorkshire while also providing hundreds of homeowners with energy-efficient solutions that reduce their bills.
Millions of Homes Still Struggle with Poor Insulation
Our managing director, Craig Robertson, adds: “There’s so much talk about escalating energy prices, yet many households don’t even realise that they are missing out on a simple and cost-effective way of insulating their homes.”
Currently, we estimate up to 3 million homes that have heritage or cost restrictions still remain with secondary glazing. This is excluding many commercial properties too which face similar problems. With these concerns, we invited a local MP, Alexander Stafford, to our factory to talk about how legislation could be changed.
Our talk with Mr Stafford resulted in him agreeing to sign a letter that we will be sending to Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. This is a significant moment for our sector and hopes to bring more energy-efficient solutions to heritage homes and those suffering from fuel poverty.
