What is the difference between sliding doors and bi-fold doors?
Sliding doors operate on a precision track system, with one or more panels gliding horizontally to open the aperture. They require no stacking space and offer uninterrupted views when closed. Bi-fold doors fold concertina-style, allowing the full opening to be cleared completely. Sliding doors are typically the stronger choice for wider spans with fewer vertical frames and a lower threshold profile, while bi-folds suit situations where a completely open elevation is the priority.
How large can the sliding panels be?
Our Sliding BiFold sashes can be up to 2,500mm wide and 3,000mm tall, supporting sashes of up to 320kg each. We offer left or right opening, double and triple track configurations, and large sash options. Contact our technical team to discuss your exact project requirements.
Are the doors thermally and acoustically efficient?
Yes. Our thermally broken aluminium profiles achieve a U value of Uw 1.3 W/m²K, delivering effective thermal insulation year-round. The system also provides exceptional acoustic performance with Rw up to 41 dB - keeping your interior quiet and comfortable regardless of external noise. Available with 28mm or 30mm glazing units.
Can I specify a different colour inside and outside?
Absolutely. We offer dual-colour powder-coated finishes, allowing you to specify different colours for the interior and exterior faces of your door. With over 150 RAL shades available, you can precisely match both your interior decor and external building material palette.
Do the sliding doors meet PAS 24 security standards?
Yes. Our Sliding BiFold system can be specified to meet PAS 24, incorporating multipoint locking hardware and toughened or laminated glazing. This makes the system suitable for both residential and commercial security specifications.
Do you offer a low threshold option for level access?
Yes. Our Sliding BiFold includes low threshold configurations that provide a near-flush transition between inside and outside. This is ideal for accessibility requirements and creates the seamless indoor-outdoor flow that defines premium modern architecture.
What is the lead time for the Sliding BiFold?
We offer some of the most competitive lead times in the UK market. Lead times vary depending on finish, glass specification, and configuration. Contact our team for a current lead time estimate for your specific project.
Is the Sliding BiFold suitable for commercial projects?
Yes. The system is engineered for high-end residential and premium commercial applications including hospitality, retail, and office environments. Long-term structural durability, bespoke configuration, and a refined aesthetic make it well-suited to demanding commercial specifications.
